International students please refer to International Services at www.utas.edu.au/international The Master of Social Work {Advanced Practice} degree course is offered by the School of Sociology and Social Work. The course is available only on the Launceston campus of the University and can be completed in three years part-time study. The maximum period allowed for completion of the MSocWkPrac is five years, although in certain cases permission may be granted for completion of the course over an extended period of time. Candidates should discuss all matters relating to the course with the course coordinator, Professor Sandra Taylor at the School of Sociology and Social Work. These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing the course from 2010 onwards. For students who commenced prior to 2010, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2006 should refer to the 2006 Handbook. Course objectives The Master of Social Work {Advanced Practice} enables field practitioners in a variety of human service agencies to enhance their knowledge and practice at an advanced level. The course is intended to provide social work practitioners with an innovative model for reflective practice and to increase competence in a range of social work fields and methods. The importance of locating social work practice in the political and organizational context will be emphasised.Fees & scholarships Domestic students Domestic students enrolled in a full fee paying place are charged the Student Services and Amenities Fee but this fee is incorporated in the fees you pay for each unit you enrol in. Full fee paying domestic students do not have to make any additional SSAF payments. Domestic students enrolled in a Commonwealth supported place will be charged a fee based on the number of units a student enrols in. In 2019, this fee is $45.45 per unit. In 2019, the maximum charge for full time students is $303. International students International students should refer to the International Students course fees page to get an indicative course cost.
