Political decision making and the policies that arise from those decisions greatly impact the lives of the communities under their jurisdiction. If not done properly, well-intended policies can result in consequences that negatively impact generations of people living in a community. This double degree, which can be completed in just two and a half years, will give you skills you need for development, humanitarian, political and policy-related work in government organisations, in community and advocacy organisations, or work in media, law or government relations in Australia and overseas. KEY FEATURES You'll develop a comprehensive understanding of current debates in public policy including evidence-based policy, accountability, federal-state relations, globalisation, policy transfer, political parties and citizen engagement. You'll be able to study diverse disciplines and develop study plans tailored to your personal interests. You'll develop your understanding of how policy is formed, implemented and evaluated from an Australian perspective. You'll learn about the politics surrounding public policy, and the changing landscape of policy-making and Australian public policy. You'll gain the knowledge and skills you need to address development and health-related issues in our globalised world. You'll enhance your understanding of the interactions between the larger global forces shaping health and development, and the community and individual experiences, and respond to these forces. You'll learn how to theoretically frame and practically address the social, cultural, environmental and political-economic dynamics within development, humanitarian and global health practice, and understand how these dynamics coalesce and affect people's lives.
