Course Description
In Australia, health communication is a diverse field working across government, non-government, non-profit, private and public organisations, and impacts the heath decision-making behaviour of a diverse and complex public. Health communicators work to translate and mediate the myriad discourses within the industry including policy, research, clinical practice and public health. As a student of this course, you will work on real-life projects within this context and engage with current theory and practice in order to critique health communication campaigns in Australia and internationally.
You will have the opportunity to continue onto Masters level coursework in the School of Arts and the Sir Walter Murdoch School of Public Policy and International Affairs
Health communication is a diverse professional area with employment opportunities available across various industries in Australia and internationally. Health communicators are the vital link between policy makers, health providers, clinicians, researchers and public health institutions working at all levels of health intervention, from grass roots community all the way to the international arena. Graduates of this course will be able to seek employment in the health and allied industries in a range of roles including, but not limited to, strategic communications specialists, communications advisors, media advisors, communications consultants, digital communications specialists, community engagement officers, stakeholder managers, government communications advisors, communications policy advisors and public relations managers.
