You will study 8 units from the Bachelor of Business, chosen to give you a solid foundation in accounting, economics, finance, organisational development, and marketing. We use real business case studies to analyse business data, strategy and management practices. Our units use current business research and industry experts to understand regional and global business trends. We value what you already know about the world of business and through our program of study help you to take your learning beyond the University into your chosen career. There is also the option to complete a major in Indigenous Organisation Management, which has been specially designed for those employed or associated with an Indigenous organisation. The units in the Diploma have been based on areas identified as being fundamental to the diverse operational aspects of Indigenous organisations - e.g. financial accountability, business law, management, group dynamics and leadership skills. Pathway: If you complete the Diploma in Business, you can progress into the Bachelor of Business and receive advanced standing for all units completed in the Diploma. Career Opportunities You will graduate from a Diploma in Business as a flexible, all-rounder - your career pathway may include small and large business management; administration or management; Indigenous organisation management; banking; government agencies; human resources; project management; entrepreneur; or business consulting.

    The University of New England was the first Australian university established outside a capital city.   • UNE Origins
    The vision of those who fought to establish Australia’s first regional university at Armidale in northern NSW is still alive at the University of New England.The story begins with the election, in 1920, of David Henry Drummond as representative of the Northern Tablelands in the NSW Legislative Assembly. Drummond was a foundation member of the New State Movement, which believed in the potential of New England to become Australia’s seventh State – with, necessarily, its own educational institutions. His interest in education led to his appointment, in 1927, as Minister for Education in a newly-elected NSW Government.

    The University of New England is a body corporate established by the University of New England Act, 1993 (NSW), (UNE Act). The University of New England comprises the UNE Council, Convocation, the University’s graduates and its students. The functions of its governing bodies (UNE Council and Academic Board) are outlined within the UNE Act and its associated University of New England By-law (2005) .The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by Council as the University’s Chief Executive Officer and is also the University’s principal academic officer. The Vice-Chancellor is supported and assisted by a team of senior executives, who provide strategic, policy and operational advice relating to their individual portfolios.

    The Faculty of Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences, and Education (HASSE) is strategically positioned as a multidisciplinary academic unit for teaching, research and professional engagement, responsible for delivering services through the School of Education and the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. The Faculty aspires to lead through academic excellence in learning and teaching, research, and engagement with the professions and industries; and to influence public policy, professional practice and community life across our diverse disciplines. It supports an outstanding learning and student experience through provision of a range of courses, at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, to prepare our graduates to achieve their potential in a complex and changing global environment. The Faculty undertakes world-class research, strengthened by collaboration across disciplines including strong partnerships with professions, industry, and other institutions.
