Speech pathologists help people overcome a range of barriers affecting their communication, from speech impairments to problems with voice control, language, fluency, swallowing and eating.
Learn how to assess, diagnose, and treat a range of clients with communication disorders, such as children with delayed communication skills and adults with impairments as a result of disease or injury.Build a strong knowledge foundation from your first year of study in fields such as anatomy, linguistics, psychology and research. You’ll also explore the areas of speech, language, voice, fluency, hearing, and swallowing. Spend more than 600 hours on supervised placements throughout your program, building your confidence and skills as a clinician. More than 200 locations are available for clinical placements, including UQ’s Speech Pathology Clinic at St Lucia.Graduate with a respected honours qualification, with advanced knowledge and skills that will set you apart in a competitive job market, demonstrate your leadership skills, and provide a pathway to future research or learning.
