• University Profile
  Victoria University (VU) is the university of the west.Victoria University achieved university status in 1991, but our preceding institutions date back to 1916. We are one of Australia’s few dual-sector universities. Today, we have over 40,000 enrolled higher education, and vocational education and training students studying on our campuses.As one of 39 public universities in Australia, graduates can be assured their qualification from VU is being awarded from a university operating in a world-class education system.Being a dual-sector university means that our students can easily pathway from vocational education to higher education – such as from a certificate or diploma course through to an undergraduate degree or even a postgraduate qualification by coursework or research.
• Our History – Celebrating Our Centenary
  In 2016, Victoria University celebrated a Centenary of Opportunity.The Centenary coincided with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Victoria University, with the first Vice-Chancellor being appointed in 1991. To mark this significant milestone in the institution’s history, the Centenary Project was established with the primary aim of enabling the University to proudly and publicly support its ambitious vision to become a university that is relevant to the needs and aspirations of contemporary learners and the community of the 21st century.A secondary aim of the Centenary Project is to provide a vehicle through which the university can reconnect with the VU Family Tree and lay a strong foundation for a major capital campaign to deliver inspiring and ambitious projects to benefit VU students and the community.

• Moondani Balluk
  Moondani Balluk means ’embrace people’ in the language of the Wurundjeri people who first lived in the western region of Melbourne.Moondani Balluk Academic Unit works across Aboriginal, non-governmental organisation and community spaces to deliver teaching, research and support.
• University of the West
  Victoria University (VU) has been providing tertiary education opportunities to students from the West and beyond for over a hundred years.We have also been working closely with industry and community partners to support economic growth and build a healthier, smarter and more sustainable west.

• Administration & Governance
  The Victoria University (VU) senior leadership team is led by the Vice-Chancellor Professor Peter Dawkins with the guidance of the University Council, which includes the Chancellor George Pappas AO. The leadership team drives University activity and has experience both locally and overseas.Victoria University operates under the Victoria University Act 2010. This Act replaced the Victoria University Act of Technology Act 1990 which created the University. The Acts sets out the objects, powers and functions of the University.
• Organisational Leadership
  Meet the VU management team and learn about their achievements and expertise.The University is led by Professor Peter Dawkins, who became the third Vice-Chancellor and President of Victoria University on 19 January 2011. The Vice-Chancellor is appointed by the University Council and is responsible to Council for ensuring that the University is well led and managed, for promoting its educational excellence and for securing its financial sustainability.The Chancellor, as the Chair of the University Council, is the champion of effective and ethical governance, and leads a dynamic team of councillors in their strategic decision making and oversight of the University’s operations.
• University Council
  University Council is the governing board of the institution (sometimes called a Senate or a Board of Governors). It is collectively responsible for overseeing the institution’s activities, determining its future direction and fostering an environment in which the institutional mission is achieved.It makes final decisions on matters of fundamental concern to the institution. Council is responsible for approving and monitoring the strategic direction of the University, appointing the Vice-Chancellor (CEO) and monitoring their performance, and monitoring the health and performance (particularly financial) of the University and its management.
